Pauline Phillips, who went by the pen name Abigail Van Buren, passed away Wednesday in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the age of 94.  Phillips had been battling Alzheimer’s disease.  “Dear Abby” was first printed in 1956 and eventually grew to boast a readership of 100 million.  Phillips’ twin sister was advice columnist Ann Landers, who passed away in 2002 at 83 years old.  “Dear Abby” is carried on by Pauline’s daughter Jeanne, who took over the column in 2002 after the family announced that Phillips was battling Alzheimer’s.
