16 days have gone by and Psychology Today has FINALLY told me what the most important things to remember are for this year... here's a sample:

The most important things for parents...

Have a good relationship with their kids. Kids pick up their life lessons by watching their parents. Set a good example.

The most important thing a man can do for his love...

...Cherish them. If your mate feels loved and knows you have their back, it creates a strong foundation.

The important thing a woman can do for her partner...

...be a great cheerleader. We all need to be the star player in the eyes of the person we love.

The most important thing to give yourself is...

...time. Wasting time, which is different from relaxing, is one of the ways we hurt ourselves. Wasting time falls under anger, resentment, feeling sorry for ourselves, and plotting revenge.

The Psychology for Exercise Success!

There are three mental keys to starting and maintaining an exercise routine, says Dallas-based sports psychologist Julie Bell. It takes 21 to 28 days to develop a habit, she says. Bell says, "Getting your mind wrapped around the goal is a big part of it. We focus on the physical part of it. There’s a big mental component."

1. Have confidence in your plan and stick with it. Bell cites examples of dieters who have a new plan every other day because they did not have confidence in the original plan.

2. Recognize incremental success from the get-go. Bell says people expect to hit their goal on day one. "We have to know what our starting place is and what our goal is. Anything above starting that’s working toward the goal is considered success."

3. Commit to being uncomfortable for a month. Creating new routines requires doing unfamiliar things, which can raise your anxiety level. It takes time for new practices to become habits.

We love to play doctor!

A new Pew survey found 35% of us like to play doctor and use the Internet to self diagnose our medical issues. The main reason we turn to the Internet first is to decide whether or not to consult a doctor. A third of us just handled it on our own.

This article states the obvious two dangers here --

  1. A serious condition could go undetected and untreated
  2. The Internet will often lead you to think you have a serious condition than is actually the case

Duh! You think it's a cold; the internet tells you it's a brain tumor. Thank you for the heart attack, Internet!

Jessica Simpson is set to star in a new sitcom based on her life. She's teaming up with the executives behind her reality series "Fashion Star," on which she serves as a mentor, for a semi-autobiographical scripted comedy.

Sharon Osbourne has taken her feud with Lady Gaga to TV by scolding the pop star on "The Talk." She has been embroiled in an ongoing war of words with the Gaga ever since Osbourne's daughter Kelly claimed Gaga's devoted fans had bullied her. Gaga then criticized Kelly for her role on catty TV series "Fashion Police" and Sharon stepped in, calling hera "hypocrite and an attention seeker" in an open letter.

Then this on The Talk yesterday: "Don't let your fans be so hideously damaging, hurtful, violent... on your website. If you are a Mother Monster, monitor it. Why haven't you, as a responsible young woman, said, 'No violence on my website, no violence, no threats, no violence'?" Sharon also took Gaga to task for the controversial rifle bra she has been wearing at her concerts, ranting, "Everything is guns, guns, guns. This is not right, and she should be stopped."

She then added, "All I'm asking her to do is to stay true to her (anti-bullying) foundation, which she said (she created because) she wants the world to be a braver, kinder world. (She should tell fans), 'Please don't be violent on my site.'"

Ya know what's violent, Sharon?

What Gaga did to those pants!
