1) Paying attention doesn't mean looking, listening or responding. Real paying attention requires eye contact, facial expression and gestures. Not "tuning in" occasionally.

2) They treat everyone the same. Kids text everywhere -- the dinner table, the cafeteria, or the doctor's office. In there world there's no difference between friends, family, and 'authority figures.'

3) Personal safety isn't a problem. Did she just text while crossing the street? Remember this video?
