It's a dream come true to be back in Detroit, the area I was born and raised. Troy ('City of Tomorrow...Today') was my turf as a kid, and I grew up going to Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons, Lions, and for a year, Panthers games! I've been heavily influenced by the musical soul of Detroit.... from Motown, Aretha, and Anita, to Eminem and Kid Rock. The music has always reflected the city -- sweet but tough. I love that. Troy Athens is where I spent my high school years followed by four (possibly five) years at Central Michigan University. My radio journey took me on an amazing tour through Michigan. Working in Mt. Pleasant, Saginaw, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids taught me so much about this amazing state. It also taught me how special Detroit is, and will always be. Detroiters are survivors. Kind and tough at the same time. We like to have a good time, but will band together when we're needed most. There are bright days ahead for this great city. I met my amazing wife, Kelcey, in Kalamazoo in 1999. The night we met, she told me "you'll never meet a girl in Kalamazoo." That's the only time she's ever been wrong in our relationship. She's my best friend and together we are raising two amazing kids. Charlie, born in 2007, and Kellen, born in 2011. Oh, yes, and 'the dog before the kids,' Stubbs. We are most likely where you are in life -- just hard working parents trying to raise two decent kids. If they don't steal your car when they're teenagers, then I've done my job. Hobbies: Writing, reading about technology, train collecting (with Charlie), and fitness (cycling classes). I also do my best to be involved in my church. I feel it's important for the kids to be around that environment. It's positive and safe, and the lessons are time tested. Favorite books: Anything business related -- stories of entrepreneurs. I know that sounds geeky, but it is really inspirational to read about someone who went from nothing to everything. Favorite movies: Wish I had time. I really do. Now my movies are simply "voiced" by the actors I like. Favorite TV Shows: Modern Family, The Office, Parks and Recreation, Shark Tank, and Revolution. Of course, almost all of those shows are watched via Hulu on my phone while in bed... you do what you can to keep up! Life philosophy: Just show up on time.
